Maintenance Carpenter I

The City of Bowie is seeking an individual who is skilled in the construction and maintenance of structural woodwork and equipment. Ability to use standard carpenter tools and power-driven woodworking machinery and routine unsupervised repairs as well as supervising non-skilled workers. Experience in concrete work and using ladders. Able to perform heavy manual labor, ability to understand and follow specific instructions. Participates in seasonal tasks such as snow removal and leaf collection. Ability to maintain a good working relationship with fellow employees, supervisors, and the general public.

Qualifications:   

• HS Diploma or GED
• Three (3) years of experience in skilled carpentry trade or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Able to follow written and oral instructions
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor, ability to understand and follow specific instructions

Preferred Qualifications:   

• Possession of a Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with the appropriate endorsements within six months of employment.
• Ability to obtain Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPSI) within 1 year of employment.

Salary:  $27.42 Per hour
