GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
The Senior Accountant plays a critical role in helping to manage the fiscal and physical assets of the City of
Seat Pleasant and ensure proper internal controls, policies and procedures are working effectively.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND TASKS
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing various accounting functions, i.e., review and
record financial transactions, i.e., cash receipts and disbursements and non-cash activities to the general
ledger in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. The Senior Accountant will perform
monthly bank and account reconciliations, analyze complex financial records and reports, and ensure the
integrity of accounting reporting. The incumbent will prepare cashflow analyses and assist in preparing
accurate and timely financial statements and provide information for audits. He/she will also monitor internal
controls and compliance with City policies and procedures. This position requires attention to detail,
thoroughness, organization and a commitment to punctuality and an ability to work independently and
collaboratively with other members of the City’s’ departments, business partners, other municipalities and
County and State departments.
Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations of cash, accounts receivable, fixed assets, investments,
accounts payable, revenues and expenditures.
Prepare monthly closing journal entries and maintain reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement
accounts.
Perform various analyses on specific general ledger accounts, cashflow analyses, budget to actual
expenditure reports and others as needed.
Complete month, quarterly and year-end financial statements and other reporting as needed accurately and
timely.
Assist in gathering and compiling information and preparing schedules for the annual budget, audit and tax
filings.
Protect the confidentiality of financial and other pertinent information and documents of the City of Seat
Pleasant.
Seek continuing professional education training to increase skills and abilities
Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
The incumbent is expected to inform the Chief Financial Officer of any issues or irregularities in financial
reporting and noncompliance with internal controls and financial and operational policies and procedures.
Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft products. Experience or familiarity with ERP systems (e.g.,
NetSuite) and system integration and/or upgrades highly desirable. Ability to communicate logically and
clearly both orally and in writing. Experience in working in a fast-paced office environment and providing
client-focused services in a collaborative relationship style. Ability to maintain the highest level of integrity
and confidentiality.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of
force frequently or constantly to move objects.
• Work requires reaching, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions.
• Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
• Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels.
• Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation if machines,
determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work and observing general surroundings and activities.
• The worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Minimum Experience and Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
Certified Management Accountant preferred but not required. Five plus years of accounting, finance, or
business operations and financial reporting experience, preferably in municipal government or a combination
of public and private sectors.
