The Role
The City Manager serves as the Chief Administrative Officer, appointed by the Mayor and Council. This leader will oversee day-to-day operations of all municipal departments and work directly with elected officials to implement the city's strategic vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer all city functions with integrity, transparency, and efficiency
- Prepare and manage the city’s annual operating budget
- Lead capital improvement projects and infrastructure upgrades
- Cultivate relationships with residents, stakeholders, and regional partners
- Supervise department heads and guide city staff development
- Secure funding through grants and intergovernmental initiatives
Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for a results-driven leader who values community, inspires excellence, and believes in the power of public service. The ideal candidate will be collaborative, communicative, and have a strong track record of municipal or public sector management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Political Science, Business, or related field
- (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of municipal or executive leadership experience
- Strong skills in budgeting, operations, staff management, economic development, and engineering
- Knowledge of Maryland municipal law is a plus
- Must establish residency within 30 miles of Pocomoke City within 45 days of hire

- Starting salary: $100,000+, commensurate with experience
