The City of Bowie is seeking a part-time Customer Service Representative to serve as a proctor to oversee a computer lab for job seekers, located at the Kenhill Center on Kenhill Drive. The ideal candidate for this position has a flexible weekly schedule, a passion for helping people find their pathways in life, and experience working in education or employment training, with specialized knowledge of Maryland and local programs for job seekers. A combination of education and real-world experience in this sector is preferred.

Duties will include proctoring the job lab during intervals when it is open to the public, assisting residents in setting up online profiles and locating training courses, organizing and providing administrative support for educational lectures, assisting with presentations by potential employers, and facilitating other events for job seekers and workers to learn about training and employment opportunities in the County and region.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with job seekers, especially in one or more of the target demographics of youth aged 15 – 25, veterans, seniors, returning residents, and English as a second language speakers.
• Administrative skills, including scheduling, organizing events, and managing facilities or offices.
• Conversant with Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, Zoom, and web-based training portals and programs.
• Certain combinations relevant experience or training may be considered in lieu of the above listed qualifications.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of career counseling, college admissions, higher education, FAFSA, scholarships, online training programs.
• Familiarity with Prince George’s County, State of Maryland, and Federal programs for students and job seekers.
• Familiarity with technical training programs, trade skills and apprenticeships, and other employment options leading to careers for job seekers with a GED or high school diploma and no interest in pursuing a higher degree.
• Knowledge of Employ Prince George’s and local institutions of higher learning, including UMD, PGCC, AACC, BSU, and others.
• Spanish (preferred) or other secondary language

SALARY:  $22.96 Hourly
