Public Safety and Emergency Manager
The City of College Park, MD, seeks an experienced professional to lead, supervise, and manage all activities related to Public Safety. The manager must have high integrity and accountability standards, strong organizational abilities, exceptional customer service, and clear, professional communication and computer software skills.
The Public Safety and Emergency Manager’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support, develop, and maintain the City of College Park Emergency Operations plan and Continuity of Operations strategies.
- Serve as the City’s Emergency Operations Lead and liaison for the Contract Police and other emergency management agencies.
- Ensure that all public safety and emergency services, activities, and records follow the City, County, and State laws, policies, and regulations.
- Facilitate training sessions for City employees to ensure compliance and adherence to the emergency operations plan.
- Facilitate the resolution of complex safety and emergency issues and the ability to present or testify before government boards and commissions.
- Provide support to the Prince George's County Police Department staff in onboarding new contract officers, assist with scheduling, and processing time sheets.
- Serve as a support and resource for the volunteers in various City resident groups such as Neighborhood Watch, CERT group, and Fire Corps.
The selected candidate must have:
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- 2 years of supervisory experience.
- 4-5 years of previous relevant work experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent customer service skills, focusing on addressing/ resolving complaints in a highly professional manner.
Although not required, preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual in Spanish and have experience working in a municipal government environment.
The starting salary is $ 85,000 - $ 92,000, depending on qualifications.
