The City of Westminster’s Utility Maintenance Department is seeking a skilled and motivated Equipment Operator - Utility Line Locator to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals with at least two years of experience in field utility work, visual inspections, or underground utility locating who are ready to advance their career with a stable and impactful public service organization.
In this role, you will:
Perform visual inspections of predefined construction areas and interpret utility maps and plans to accurately identify the presence of underground utilities.
Use specialized electronic locating equipment to detect and mark utility lines, including sanitary sewer, water lines, fiber, and City-owned electric infrastructure.
Assist with the maintenance and repair of the City’s fiber network, water distribution, and sewer collection systems.
Work closely with a dedicated team to support essential city operations and ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.
This position is a full-time, 40 hour/week position, with on-call and weekend requests to be expected.
High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma GED, Two (2) years’ experience in Utility Line Locating, or equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
Equipment Operator I - $17.76/hour; must have a valid Class C driver’s license. Ability to obtain a valid Class A restricted CDL driver’s license with tank vehicle and air brake endorsements within six to twelve months on the job.
Equipment Operator II - $21.11/hour; must already have a valid CDL Class A license.
