Operations include 24-hour patrol, dispatch services, investigations, and community engagement through the Chief’s Community Advisory Committee.
Position Overview
The Town seeks a Full-Time Telecommunicator (Communications Dispatcher I) working 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Employment is contingent upon a background check, drug screening, and physical examinations.
Key Responsibilities
• Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls
• Prioritize and dispatch police resources
• Guide callers in stressful situations
• Communicate via telephone and radio
• Update statewide/national databases
• Handle confidential information
• Liaise between the public and officers
• Maintain certifications and training
Required Qualifications
• U.S. Citizen, 18 or older
• High School Diploma/GED
• Strong communication skills
• Proficient typing/data entry
• Decision-making under pressure
• Pass background investigation
Preferred Qualifications
• Prior dispatch or public safety experience
• Bilingual (Spanish)
• Associate’s Degree (A.A.)
