As a member of the Communications team, the Multimedia Specialist is a communicator who works to keep the public engaged and well-informed about City news, events, and services. Working in front of the camera and behind the scenes to create original video content for our various communications outlets and the Bowie government channel. Video work will involve planning, writing, interviewing, covering live events, doing voiceovers, editing, and other tasks to produce news stories, public service announcements, promotional videos, virtual tours, and training videos to be broadcast on the government channel, social media, the city website, or to be used internally.
KEY REPONSIBILITIES:
- Produce video projects/packages for standalone programming
- Perform all phases of video production from concept to completion
- Develop story ideas or carry out production assignments, to include assessing needs, generating ideas, planning and location scouting, and writing and editing scripts
- Work with City departments to define the need and necessary elements of public service announcements and other videos
- Create news stories, feature stories, public service announcements, promotional announcements, and other videos for city government
- Conduct on-camera interviews in the field and in the studio and do stand up reports at city events
- Create a finished video product from raw tape, script, and other elements through editing, creating graphics and special effects, and the use of sound
- Operate professional television production equipment such as cameras, editing equipment, microphones, lights, switchers, etc.
- Write content for the City website, social media, and communications channels to publicize video productions.
- Create graphics, logos, and visual layouts for digital use.
- Monitor, analyze, and report on media performance metrics to inform and optimize future strategies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in broadcasting, communications, journalism, government and politics, English or a related field.
- 5 years’ experience in television/video broadcasting.
- Experience in videography, including all aspects of pre- and post-production.
Salary: $66,821 Annually
