As the Recreation Program Coordinator, you will:
Plan, develop, and execute special events, festivals, and parades
Manage permits, contracts, licenses (including City liquor licensing), and compliance
Oversee daily operations of recreation facilities to ensure a safe, clean, welcoming environment
Recruit, train, supervise, and schedule part-time and seasonal staff
Lead volunteer coordination and service-learning programs
Develop marketing campaigns, press releases, and digital communications
Forecast, manage, and reconcile program budgets; monitor payroll and expenditures
Conduct safety inspections and ensure compliance with City, state, and federal regulations
Evenings, weekends, and holidays are part of the excitement — because that’s when community happens.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Recreation & Parks or related field preferred
OR
High School Diploma/GED plus four (4) years of related experience
Experience organizing events, leading recreation programs, and supervising staff strongly preferred
Equivalent combinations of education and experience considered
Certifications and Key Skills:
Current First Aid & CPR certification
Valid Class C Driver’s License (or ability to obtain)
CPRP, Certified Pool Operator, or Playground Safety Inspector certifications a plus
Exceptional organization, teambuilding, and multitasking abilities
Customer-focused communication (in-person, phone, and digital)
Budget management and reporting experience
Ability to thrive under pressure and respond effectively in emergencies
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related software
A commitment to safety, professionalism, and community service
Pay and Benefits:
Non-Exempt, Hourly Rate: Starting $21.11 per hour -- depends on experience.
