Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator – Supervisor
The Town of Greensboro is seeking a motivated and experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator – Supervisor to oversee the operation, maintenance, and regulatory compliance of the Town’s wastewater treatment plant, water treatment facilities, and utility systems.
This leadership position is responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations while supervising treatment operations, maintenance activities, and utility staff.
Essential Duties
- Supervise the daily operation of the Town’s wastewater treatment plant and water treatment facilities.
- Ensure compliance with Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations.
- Prepare and submit required regulatory reports and operational records.
- Perform process control, sampling, laboratory testing, and equipment inspections.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Supervise and train utility personnel.
- Coordinate emergency response activities and participate in an on-call rotation.
- Prepare capital improvement recommendations and assist with utility budgeting.
- Work collaboratively with the Town Manager, consulting engineers, regulatory agencies, and contractors.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Maryland driver’s license.
- Maryland Class 5A Wastewater Operator Certification required.
- Maryland Water Treatment Operator Certification preferred or ability to obtain within one year.
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible wastewater treatment experience.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb stairs and ladders, work in confined spaces, respond to emergencies, and perform work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Salary & Benefits
The Town of Greensboro offers a competitive salary based on qualifications and experience:
$85,000.00 – 110,000.00
