RFQ Green Strormwater Review

The Town of Berwyn Heights is seeking proposals from qualified multidisciplinary engineering and planning firms to develop a comprehensive Community Flood Resiliency Plan.

Berwyn Heights has experienced several significant flooding events over the past decade that have affected residential neighborhoods, roadways, and critical public safety infrastructure.  Previous drainage studies have evaluated the Town's existing stormwater infrastructure and identified potential engineered improvements.  This project will build upon that framework to develop a comprehensive, climate-informed resiliency plan with an emphasis on green infrastructure and stormwater best management practices.  

The selected consultant will work with the Town and community to evaluate existing and future flood risks and develop practical strategies to reduce flooding and improve community resiliency.  The project will include extensive community engagement, coordination with regional partners, as well as identification of potential green stormwater projects and funding opportunities.  

The Town is seeking strategies that may include:

•  rain gardens
• bioswales
• permeable pavement
• expanded tree canopy
• riparian buffers
• and other resilient stormwater practices.  

This RFQ is for consultant qualifications only.  No final designs or construction projects are being approved through this procurement.  The selected consultant will prepare a long-term framework for prioritizing stormwater and flood mitigation projects, protecting critical infrastructure, pursuing grant funding, and incorporating resiliency into future Town policies and capital planning.
